The Target's appearance when it has not been locked onto another entity.
The target is a crosshair-like feature in Mope.io that is used for the special abilities of the Snowy Owl, Falcon, Markhor, Ostrich, and Phoenix, as well as the 1v1 function (usable for all tier 15, tier 16 and tier 17 animals).
Initially introduced on May 13, 2018, it has a red color when first appearing, but will turn green when the player targets an area by pressing W while their cursor is hovering over the targeted area.
Technical
- The target is a feature of the special abilities of multiple animals, and used for 1v1. Thus, it can only be accessed by a select number of animals.
- It appears once a special ability is activated or when the green
1v1button is pressed (for tiers 15 to 17 only). Initially, the target will be green and follow the cursor of the player.[note 1] - When the player clicks on a particular area of their field of view, the target will stop following the cursor, lock onto the clicked spot, and turn red. Then, the special ability's effect will activate.
Functions
- Apex animals, Monsters and tier 17 animals can use the target by clicking on the red
1v1button, which when targeted on another animal at tier 15 or above, will turn green. Then, the 1v1 Configuration options will appear on the player's screen, sending them into the Arena afterward. - The Snowy Owl's target is part of its "Target Prey" ability, which allows it to target prey of the Snowy Owl (animals within the range of tier 3 to tier 7).
- The Falcon's target is part of its "Sky Dive" ability, which allows it to be clicked anywhere while the Falcon is flying mid-air. The Falcon will then drop from the sky and land on the location where the Target was clicked on.
- The Ostrich's target is part of the "Command Babies" ability, which allows the Target to cause the Mother Ostrich to lay Eggs that will hatch into Babies. Once all Baby Ostriches have been hatched, the Target will allow them to target prey of the Ostrich (animals within the range of tier 5 to tier 12) when used, the Ostrich Mother, or an area of the ground. However, the Ostrich's Target can also target Healing Stones specifically, meaning if a Healing Stone was moved by another animal, the Target would follow it.
- The Phoenix's target is part of the "Fire Tornado" ability, which allows the Phoenix to create a Fire Tornado, which will follow the Target's targeted animal between tier 6 and tier 17 (Fox through to Black Dragon).
- The Markhor's target is part of the "Jump High" ability, allowing it to jump from hills to whichever location the Target has targeted.
- The now-removed Bird Monster had a target for its "Electro Swoop" ability.
Appearance
The target, when un-targeted, consists of two red circles overlapping a red cross. The outer circle is larger than the inner, which is around the size of most animals' eyes. Its color will change from green to red when fixated on an entity. Furthermore, the Ostrich's, Phoenix's and Snowy Owl's targets may increase or decrease in size depending on the animal that they have targeted.
When it is locked onto a specific entity, the target will turn green.

Trivia
- The Phoenix's target is the only target able to focus on inanimate objects (carcasses and Healing Stones), although doing so will not do anything.
- The Ostrich's target was formerly able to lock on inanimate objects. It is also the only target to be able to focus on the player themselves.
- Aside from the Markhor, the target is a feature exclusive to the special abilities of birds in Mope.io.
Glitches
- For a time, the Ostrich was unable to use the target on itself, to make the Ostrich babies follow the mother Ostrich. This glitch was fixed on August 11, 2020.
