The chilli pepper is a food in Mope.io that appears in the Land and Desert biomes. When eaten, it gives the player a temporary speed boost.
The pepper was added to Beta Mope.io on July 7, 2018, and released live on October 6, 2018.
Technical
- The pepper spawns in the Desert and Land biomes. Specifically, Desert peppers can be found in quicksand and oases, while Land peppers spawn in bushes.
- Peppers can only be eaten by animals from tier 11 to tier 17 (Crocodile to Black Dragon).
- There are two varieties of pepper; green and red.
- When a red pepper is eaten, the player will move 25% faster than usual; this effect lasts for three to five seconds.
- Green peppers have twice the spiciness, and make animals move 50% faster instead, and for twice as long (up to seven seconds).
- In the removed Battle Royale game mode, eating a pepper made animals immune to the heatwave for 6 seconds.
Appearance
Both variants of peppers are small, curved, although the red chili pepper can be straight sometimes. They each have a green stem on their top with small leaves. The flesh of the red chili pepper is red, and vice versa for the green one.
Strategy
- When the player reaches tier 11, they can eat peppers.
- As a tier 11 animal, and any pre-tier 15 creature, the player should consume large amounts of peppers as they are quite beneficial XP-wise.
- Though peppers do spawn in the Desert, they are typically more plentiful in Land bushes. If the player gradually makes a circuit through multiple bushes, they can periodically gain high amounts of XP to level up. However, this method becomes more tedious around the apex tier mark, but is still useful.
- The other useful effect of peppers is that they temporarily increase the player's movement speed when eaten. When the player is chasing prey or fleeing from a predator, peppers should be utilized to achieve either of these.
- If the player is a high-tier animal and is chasing any animal that can eat peppers themselves (tier 11 and above), the player should make sure to prevent their prey from eating the peppers, otherwise the prey may gain the upper hand.
- Even for the purpose of preventing the player's prey from gaining distance from them, the player should eat all peppers where possible to prevent someone else from using them.

Trivia
- Peppers and Aloevera are the only food items in Mope.io that are able to give animals passive abilities that affect gameplay.
- In Wild Mope, every animal from tier 1 to tier 17, could eat peppers. However, peppers provided substantially less XP in Wild Mope than they do in free-for-all.
