- Not to be confused with the Melon or watermelon floater
Watermelon is a type of food in Mope.io that appears in the Volcano, Desert, and Arctic Volcano. When a watermelon is fed water, it will turn into multiple watermelon slices. Watermelon was added on April 9, 2017.
Technical
- Watermelon gives a varying amount of XP depending on tier and the amount of players in the server, from 1K to around 10K. They also will increase the player's water bar.
- Watermelon can be eaten by animals from tier 11 to tier 17 (Crocodile to Black Dragon).
- They are found on the edges of lava, making it a bit risky to retrieve them. Watermelons are most abundant in the center of the map where the volcano is, but can be found in smaller quantities in Desert lava spots. Watermelons spawn in the temporary lava spots created by an erupting Volcano, Desert Volcano and Arctic Volcano.
- When approximately six water drops are shot at a watermelon (by pressing the
Skey), the watermelon will reform into multiple watermelon slices.
Appearance
The watermelon's current Season 1 design is simply a green circle, with vertical, darker green stripes on it.
Strategy
- As a tier 11 animal, watermelon slices provide valuable XP. Shoot water pods at whole watermelons to create slices.
- Be aware that as watermelons usually spawn in lava, the player will have to watch out for their health when consuming the slices. For mid tiers such as tiers 6 to 8, the player does not need to worry about lava as they will be able to upgrade to safety by eating just one watermelon's slices.
- Due to both the lava and requiring water in order to create watermelon slices, the player should make sure that a water spot is accessible, as a predator could ambush the player at the lava if the player has a visibly low water bar.
- Another good strategy with watermelons is to find a server with minimal players, and find a small lava pool in the Desert. Start spitting water pods at whole watermelons as a Desert Rat, while eating nearby food to level up. By the time the player reaches Fennec Fox, they will be able to rapidly level up.
- High tier animals will have less use for watermelons. At tier 11, the player will be able to consume whole watermelons, but they do not provide that much XP, and are not worth the risk of being burned by lava.
- With that being said, for lava drinking animals and any animal that is immune to lava, watermelons can be an easy source of XP, albeit not a large one. If the player is a Black Dragon, they can continuously eat watermelons to strive for 20M XP, at which point the triple fireball ability will be unlocked.

Trivia
- Watermelons in real life grow near volcanoes due to the fertile soil, which is why they spawn in the Volcano biome. However, watermelons spawning in the lava pools of the Desert is a Mope.io-exclusive feature.
