Not to be confused with Arctic Volcano or Desert Volcano

The Volcano, also referred as the Lava biome, is a sub-biome in Mope.io that was first added on April 9, 2017. It is located in the Land biome, at the core of the map, and is the only place other than the Desert that Lava-drinking Animals can gain lava from.

Technical

• There are multiple pools of Lava surrounding the Volcano. How many varies from server to server, but they are concentrated enough to touch one another in various spots.
• A giant healing stone will spawn in the Volcano. Only one can exist at a time. They can be used more extensively than smaller healing stones, as well as having more health than the average stone.
• At least two large Hiding Holes are located at the Volcano; the small variety cannot be found there.
• The only food sources that are located at the Volcano are Watermelons and red mushrooms.
• Terrain forms such as trees, hills and rocks also spawn quite commonly at the Volcano, usually near lava.
• All Volcanic animals have the passive ability of being able to survive on lava; they also drink it in lieu of water. Notably, some animals that can survive on lava, such as the Giant Scorpion and Dragon^[1], are not necessarily Volcano animals by virtue of this trait.
• The Volcano can erupt. In this phase, lava animals can enter the core and hide inside it. and it will spew fire, create various temporary Lava spots, and be "rumbling/vibrating". Lava Animals can still walk on it.
  • The Phoenix, Land Monster, and Black Dragon can use the core of the Volcano in the same way as that of a hiding hole, but only during an eruption. Only lava-bourne animals can use it in this way.

Food and terrain

Food/Terrain name	Appearance	Notes
Watermelon/Watermelon slice		Not to be confused with Melons Watermelons are a type of fruit that are abundant in the Volcano's lava pools. They give around 1K-2K XP, and some water. When watermelons are oversaturated, they burst into slices. Slices give around 900+ XP, and provide much more water.
Red mushroom		The Red Mushroom is a food source that also commonly spawns throughout the area of the Volcano.
Lava		Pools of lava are a key characteristic of the Volcano that sets non-Volcano animals on fire. The Phoenix and Land Monster can dive in it.
Volcano Core		The Volcano's Core is located exactly in the middle of the Volcano. From time to time, it will erupt; spewing fireballs, and when erupting will allow Volcano animals to use it like a hiding hole.
Tree		Land Trees are present in a few places around the Volcano. Approximately 3-4 large Land trees exist in each server.
Hill		Hills can only be used by certain animals. Refer to the main article for a list of them.
Rock		Rocks can only be used by certain animals. Refer to the main article for a list of them.

Tier 15

Phoenix The Phoenix is a tier 15 (apex) animal, but the first animal to spawn exclusively in the Volcano biome. It drinks and survives on lava rather than water, and thus is able to move around in it without being burnt, and can also dive in it. The Phoenix has the special ability of creating a Fire tornado, which when targeted to a particular animal with a crosshair will continously spurt lava at it.

Tier 16

Land Monster The Land Monster is a tier 16 animal, and the second Volcanic animal in Mope.io. It also drinks lava, and can dive in it for a few seconds. Its special ability is to create a Sinkhole; a gargantuan-sized "Hiding Hole", which is transparent for animals trapped inside, will suck nearby creatures in, allowing the Land Monster to bite and kill them.

Tier 17

Black Dragon The Black Dragon is a tier 17 Volcano animal: the third out of all. Despite being a lava-drinker, the Black Dragon cannot dive in lava, nor can it regenerate lava in the Desert's lava pools. It has the passive ability of Fly over everything, and the special ability of shooting two balls of Fire when pressing W. If the Black Dragon's XP quantity is reduced to anything below 9.6M, it will automatically downgrade to the tier 16 animal that spawns in whatever biome the Black Dragon is currently in.

King Dragon The King Dragon is also a tier 17 Volcano animal. There is a 1/1000 chance of it being selectable in lieu of the Black Dragon upon initially reaching 10M XP. However, players can "upgrade" to King Dragon from Black Dragon by killing all tier 15 and 16 animals, and another Black Dragon. Although the latter method is technically like the usual upgrading process, the King Dragon is mechanically a tier 17 animal, and thus cannot exert predation on the Black Dragon. The King Dragon's special abilities include a Tail Slap (activated by S), causing it to use its tail to create a hitbox of damage near its tail; and the Fire Stream (activated by W), causing the King Dragon to exhale multiple fire balls in a crescent-like formation.

History

This section lists the update history of the Volcano as it is recorded in the changelog, as well as leaks or reveals from social media. Certain changes that were not explicitly added to the changelog might be missing.

Trivia

• In the old USA South 4 and Asia 1 servers, the Volcano had a lake on top of it (dubbed the "lakecano"). Like a Volcano, it spawned watermelons, and burnt animals; ducks that spawned there would soon die as a result of the lava, providing lots of meat and making them unable to lay eggs and hatch Ducklings. The lakecano can no longer be found in any server.
• For a couple of minutes after an eruption, the Volcano was able to be climbed to give a superior (and often laggy) FoV of the surrounding area (similar to a Hill/Rock but larger); especially if the player was a Black Dragon. This feature was removed in an unknown update.
