The Chicken is a tier 3 Land animal in Mope.io, and equivalent to the Mole, Crab, Penguin, Meerkat, and Flying Lizard.

It was originally added as a tier 1 animal on December 23, 2018, and removed April 27, 2019. On March 12, 2020, the Chicken was added back as a tier 3 animal.

Technical

The Chicken upgrades from the Rabbit, Trout, Arctic Hare, Desert Chipmunk, or Chukar at 400 XP.
Upon reaching 1K XP, it evolves into the Pig, Woodpecker, Seahorse, Seal, Armadillo, or Kakapo.
Food sources it can consume are: berries, raspberries, dates, cactus pears, carrots, honeycomb, and plankton.
Prey of the Chicken includes all animals within the range of tier 2 to tier 1 (Rabbit to Mouse).
Predators of the Chicken includes all animals within the range of tier 4 to tier 9 (Pig to Cheetah).
The special ability of the Chicken is "Run". When pressing W or automatically when hurt by a predator, the Chicken will spread out its wings and run around, increasing movement speed.
The passive Abilities of the Chicken includes Climbing on hills and trees (slowly), faster movement in water and mud, and being able to dive in mud. Furthermore, its special ability's automatic activation is another Passive ability.
The Chicken can hide in all hiding spots.

Appearance

The default skin design for the Chicken is currently the Classic / Season 1 version. This skin is an orange bird with darker wings folded on its body. It has a large head with a pair of large black eyes, a red comb on top pushed over to its right, and a short, narrow, goldenrod beak containing two black points for nostrils. A pair of red wattles can barely be seen under the beak. The rest of its body has darker feather details. The Chicken's wings have darker tips, and its tail is a broad bunch of feathers.

When the Chicken uses its "Run" ability, its wings will stick out, flap about, and it will say through chat: "CLUCK!!!" This applies for all of the Chicken's other skins as well.

Strategy

As the Chicken is a low tier animal, the fastest way to level up is to shoot water at brown mushrooms by pressing S, until it bursts into berries, which provide substantial XP.
- Brown mushrooms can be found near bushes at lakes in the Land biome. Raspberries are also a good option for XP
- Carrots can also be consumed in mud patches, as the player will be safe there and can move fast/dive in it. As a bonus, slow-moving prey that is stuck there can be easily killed.
Chasing prey is another option, but can take more time than it is worth, since farming is easier. If the player chases prey, they should use the "Run" ability by pressing W to speed up to prey and bite them as much as possible.
To avoid most predators, the player can climb on hills or trees, using the Chicken's Special Ability to gain distance from predatory animals. Waiting in a hiding hole should cause any predators that are chasing the player to eventually lose interest.
- Predator-wise, the main threat for the player will be Pigs – they too move fast in mud, and their "Stink Cloud" ability can be lethal. Do not dive in mud unless necessary, as upon emerging, the player will become muddy and slow and potentially succumb to the Pig. If the player does dive, it should be into a hiding hole or cave.

Trivia

It was the only tier 1 with a passive ability until the Shrimp and Desert Rat got their sprint abilities.

- is the sole 2025 summer skin to cost coins.
- is a pun on the restaurant chain Kentucky Fried Chicken, better known as KFC, that specializes in fried chicken. The bucket on its head references the iconic red and white chicken buckets of the chain.
