The Frog is an AI Land animal in Mope.io that commonly appears in rivers. It was released on May 13, 2018.
Technical
- Frogs are edible to tier 10 and above (Bear to Black Dragon).
- Frogs will spawn in rivers in the Land biome. They are common on its banks.
- They prefer to stay near rivers, alternating between diving and leaping out onto the banks. When further than a hop or so away, they will pathfind to the river. If they are far enough from a river (only possible through abilities such as Eagle's "Fly with Prey"), they wander aimlessly.
- The Frog's "special ability" is to leap, turning to face a direction before taking a large leap that takes a couple seconds to complete, going over hills and rocks but not animals. This is the only way they can move on land. They hop every few seconds normally. When bitten, Frogs will automatically pivot for the nearest river in a series of quick hops to escape.
- When first bitten, they leave a gray circle of slime that disappears after a couple seconds. This "ability" appears to have a 15 second cooldown.
- If a player under tier 11 touches the slime and is in an atypical state such as in upgrade invincibility, digging, or on a tree, the player will recieve a message saying "Yuck! You are covered in slimy and slippery slime!" and have a gray green outline for 4 seconds. During the 4 seconds, the player's grip on land/water becomes very slippery (like ice but with even less friction), making it much harder to control their animal.
- In water, Frogs automatically dive. The Frog appears to have either a very long or indefinite dive time. Similar to on land, they remain still for a few seconds, turn in a random direction, and swim in bursts of high speed before repeating. If they meet the edge of a river while swimming, they will leap out of it. While diving, unlike normal diving animals, Frogs can be pushed, although not bitten. They can only be harmed by certain special abilities in this state.
- The longer a Frog lives, the more XP it gives. They are able to consume some low tier food, though don't intentionally seek it out.
- Frogs are able to bite the tails of predators and can potentially kill them in this way, even while diving. They don't prey on any animals directly (and therefore appear with a neutral outline to animals below tier 10).
- They can climb on hills and rocks. They are immune to the river current and are very fast in water.
- Frogs chat "CROAK!" and "RIBBIT!" from time to time to imitate sounds.
Appearance
The Season 1 / Classic Frog has a lime green, pear-shaped body, being broader towards its tiny tail than its front. It has two large black eyes with white pupils in typical Mope fashion in green eye sockets and two dots for nostrils. Its back has a central highlight. Unlike most animals in the game, the Frog has four stocky visible legs darker than its body ending in four orange digits that appear to have toe discs. When it leaps, its back legs extend to their fullest, being longer than its body length.
When in water, instead of using diving bubbles, they appear as a translucent green oval to represent the head and a smaller less translucent oval for the tail. The tail oval slightly overlaps the head one.
Strategy
- From tier 10 onwards, Frogs become the most important source of XP if the player wants to farm to apex tier. On small servers, one can get to apex tier in a matter of minutes by farming Frogs.
- If the player does want to do Frog-centric farming strategy, they should upgrade to the following animals in order: Tiger, Lion, Eagle, Hippo, and Elephant. These animals are the best Land ones in their tier for farming Frogs.
- The Tiger is swift in water and can pull Frogs away from the river with its ability. Just a couple Frogs will let the player upgrade.
- The Lion can roar at Frogs to knock them away and stun them while the player bites them.
- The Eagle has it easier than the previous animals, being able to grab Frogs with its ability (this works even while they're diving), fly them far enough way that they lose their tracking to the river. The stun from the drop is long enough to eat them right as it runs out.
- The Hippo is similar to the Lion, but its lower ability radius may make it harder to use (though it is fast in water).
- The Ostrich can be a good alternative, being faster than Frogs and able to use its babies to assist it, but the player should be careful of its water loss.
- The Elephant has the easiest time of the listed animals. Its "Trunk Hit" ability one shots Frogs.
- Prioritize the biggest Frogs, as they have the most XP.
- Try to predict where the Frog will go by paying attention to its diving asset. Frogs will always try pathfinding to the river and will periodically leap out of the river. If they are out of the river, position oneself between the river and the Frog so that they leap into the player, and if they are in the river, face toward where they will leap out.
- The player can push Frogs out of water, scoring a hit once they are out of the water.
- Pay attention to where the head of a Frog is at all times, including while diving. It is very easily to get tail-bitten by accident, including in the water. If on low health, the player should avoid farming Frogs until they heal.
- As tier 10 or below, be careful with the slime effect of a Frog if the player is in the middle of a state because they will get affected.

Trivia
- Visually, the Frog appears to be some type of tree frog. This is supported by its Season 2 skin, which looks similar to the American green tree frog.
- Despite real tree frogs very rarely descending from trees, Frogs in Mope.io are unable to climb trees.
- The Frog possesses a very small tail. In real life, only metamorphs (immature frogs) have a tail; adult frogs lack one, exempting one genus with a tail-like structure.
- The Frog:
- along with the Camel, are the only animals to inflict a slime effect, and the only one to do so passively,
- along with the Sea Monster, are the only animals able to achieve a psuedo-diving state that differs mechanically from regular diving,
- is one of the few vertebrates in the game to show all of its limbs at all times,
- is the only animal that is restricted to using its ability to move on land, and
- is the only non-passively flying animal that is fully immune to the river current currently (all non-flying animals that should be immune to the current aren't, due to a bug).
Glitches
- The slime effect formerly worked on animals no matter their state, but now only works on animals in abilities, on trees, etc. This is likely a bug.
- If an Eagle grabbed a Frog and upgraded right after, the Frog stays floating in air without losing any water at all, which causes less Frogs to spawn. This glitch was fixed.
